I was thinking of the reply Jesus gave when asked about paying taxes, Render unto Caesar what is Caesars (more or less) and initially, at least when I was younger, I thought it meant to give Caesar his due. However, I think He was being sarcastic-I think He was trying to say in a subtle way, dont give him anything. After all, what did Caesar own? What did he earn? What was he BORN into? If I take it literally, Render unto Caesar what is Caesars, I come up with Give Caesar nothing; he didnt earn it and doesnt have it coming to him. Of course,had He said this it would have been treasonous. Maybe, Im wrong. Then again, maybe, Im the last person on Earth to notice this and Ive stumbled upon something obvious to everyone thats elementary Christian doctrine. However, Ive never had it explained that way as far as I can recall.
