I was told by an acting teacher to never practice on the industry. - TopicsExpress

I was told by an acting teacher to never practice on the industry. Never go and audition until you know what you are doing, because you can get a bad reputation and never will have the chance to prove yourself again. I mean I understand the point and all, but if I would have listened to that, I would never have gotten where I am now in my acting career. Being a mental health counselor, I have been trained to look past the shell and into the soul. I look for mentors and other actors who have the best interest of others, who are not selfish and truly care about the industry. Who are professional. Proverbs 13:20 He who walks with the wise is wise, but a companion of fools suffer harm. I am also a Kinesthetic Learner and a child of the GREATEST AGENT ever!! I rather take my chances and learn from my mistakes then stay frozen in place by fear and insecurities or by what other people think. I am deeply in touch with my Creator and my own soul....I will listen to that over all! What do I have to lose?? If the role is for me, the casting directors will see it, if it isnt then God has a better plan. I walk by faith not by sight. I LOVE my freedom in Jesus! Galatians 1:10 10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. I encourage all you out there who has a passion, a dream that was birthed in you...to touch base with the ONE who made you and quit listening to the naysayers or the negative thoughts in your head and GO FOR IT!! What do you have to lose??
