I was touched and inspired while reading an article by Chauncey Devega. Go to his Facebook page if you like because he writes with great understanding. He wrote: It is the responsibility of ALL PEOPLE to fight for decent treatment for ALL PEOPLE. I have taken this statement somewhat out of context because the article is about race relations, but yet, no statement has ever been made that is more applicable to the labor movement. Unions have always fought for ALL PEOPLE without regard for gender, race, or religion and that is why I am so proud to be a part of a great union. Individually, of course, you will find members who have not overcome their intolerance but collectively, a union could not survive prejudice. I wish to express my appreciation for all my SISTERS and BROTHERS, no matter what race or religion who stand together to fight for DECENT TREATMENT FOR ALL PEOPLE.
