I was very sad to learn that a Chamber of Commerce member, The Chabad Jewish Center, requested the mayor of The Village of Bronxville allow them to set up a Menorah and have a lighting ceremony for Chanukah as they do every year for Christmas with Lighting up the Town, lighting a Christmas tree and singing Christmas carols. The mayor refused, citing separation of church and state. Fortunately, the Town of Eastchester and the Village of Tuckahoe will celebrate a Menorah lighting. Eastchester will have the ceremony on Tuesday, December 16 at 5pm at Memorial Park. Tuckahoe will have the ceremony on December 21 at 5pm at Depot Square. Thank you Anthony Colavita of Eastchester and Steve Eckland of Tuckahoe for your fairness and religeous tolerance.
