I was waiting in a queue at Asda today and Alfie decided to have a mini tantrum, some random old boy in the queue says to me, You should have worn a longer nightie thinking he was being hilariously funny! Now if there hadnt been hundreds of people in Asda and I didnt have Alfie with me make no mistake that random old boy would have been knocked clean out on the floor, but I kept my cool..... When the checkout lady asked if I needed any help with my packing I said yes as Alfie was having a tantrum and I explained to her that Alfie is Autistic, she was lovely and replied my grandson is autistic... Anyways the random old boy must of heard this because when I was loading the car up in the car park he came over to me and said I am so sorry for what I said and Im really ashamed as my friends little girl is autistic and I should have recognised the signs, me being diplomatic said its not a problem dont worry and he said I feel for you it must be so hard. Well I thought it was decent of him to apologise and Autism Awareness, is what is key here. You may come across many children who are playing up or throwing tantrums whilst out shopping, but please dont think they are just being naughty for the hell of it. Autism and other spectrum disorders are on the increase and although people are becoming more aware we still need to increase awareness for the sake of our precious children who are suffering and make this world a nicer and better environment for them.......
