I was wondering why it took me 40+ applications to secure decent employment this time around....I was starting to get a little despondent, and then speaking to colleagues in my field there was a common thread.........immigrants, mainly indian are doing courses to get their permanent residency in Australia (PR)....then with CERT IV or perhaps a DIPLOMA they start applying for positions....and when they enter the drop down box "expected salary range" they put a range at least $40K under the normal market value.......in a softish market employers are more likely to interview these applicants.....and worst still, they are happy to employ such people with little or no practical workplace knowledge for $30-$40K less..........so not only is australia facing outsourcing of our jobs, an influx of 457 visas, but also the above situation that I have first hand experience.........HAVE I BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK, OR SHOULD I JUST LOOK AT THIS AS "MARKET PLACE COMPETITION"???
