I watched social media in the last few days take an interesting turn. In response to Sen. Dianne Feinsteins partisan report on CIA interrogation Technics, amusingly called a torture report, I have seen otherwise intelligent people calling American some harsh names and wishing ill to happen to her. Most of it has been adolescent type angst being voiced by bored, uninvolved Utopians , the normal idealists I have learned to filter out. But some of the din has resonated a bit differently and was noticeable , notable. Ive come to expect the predictable rants from the self important , pseudo intellectuals, in the twitter verse like Gerald Weinand of DirigoBlue , and others in his echo chamber, but i was surprised how easy it was to get others, who should know better , to enter the fray. It was just a few minutes into a back and forth on the matter on twitter when some started actively calling for, promoting the idea that Former President G.W Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney should be arrested and hauled to the International Courts on War Crime charges. As outlandish this Idea seem to most of us, its not really new . For years now, when you can get them really worked up, push thier buttons just right, you have been able to get the more unhinged on the political left to lash out and call for G.W and Cheneys imprisonment and/or execution. I have more then a couple Friends who can be played just right causing them to lash out with similar views. But what surprised me was how easy, this time, it was to get the otherwise careful Media types to promote the same ideas, talk about the same visceral desire to see former Presidents and their V.Ps publicly and severely punished. Then about 3 post into a twitter discussion I was surprised by the directness of one tweeter, how easily she answered the direct question. Amy Fried is Professor of Political Science at the University of Maine and part time Political blogger for the Bangor Daily news. Pollways is her partisan talking points clearing house in the pages of the BDN, but she seems to live on Twitter, presumably when she is not shaping the young minds of your kids as they feed the University of Maine system Tens of thousands of your hard earned dollars. Considering Professor Frieds connection with loose-lipped ObamaCare architect Professor Jonathan Gruber, and their mutual membership in the far left wing/Progressive , partisan think tank Scholars Strategy Network , it is not surprising that Prof. Fried holds some typically extreme far left views. But, getting her to bluntly answer the question of whether she was promoting, in favor of, the arrests and trial of President George W Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for War Crimes, her answer was Yes . My expectations of the behavior of our modern day educators has been pretty low since the early 90s , but the idea that someone charged with shaping the young minds of our children would publicly say something, actively promote an idea like this I find reprehensible. In her defense, when called on this, when I pointed out that it was at least refreshing that she would publicly put on display this idea, create a record on the matter that could be revisited and discussed, she promptly blocked /banned me from seeing any of her postings on all the normal internet forums. Seems when challenged, the Progressive thing to do is to hide your words. Diversity of ideas alive and well in the Progressive halls of Academia, so they tell me..
