I watched the second season of HOUSE OF CARDS and enjoyed it as much as the first season. Two items are worth pointing out. First, some episodes were directed by Jodie Foster and Robin Wright (the co-star of the series). Both were very well done. Theres a remarkable unity to the look of the series, which was provided by David Fincher in the first two episodes. Second, I watched the DVDs, which have several extras for the second season, all of which amount to a master class on how films are made. James Foley (the principal director of the second season) discusses camera technique (mercifully no hand-held cameras). Theres a segment that shows a table read for one episode. The series is shot in a 2 x 1 ratio, making it slightly wider than the standard television ratio of 1.78 x 1, giving it the look of a film.
