I went for a walk in the trees today. The path was lined with birches and filled with golden light from the sun filtering from above. A huge fir stood like a sentinel guarding the pathway into the deeper forest. The darkly shaded pathway twisted around the bend with gnarled roots and low branches. And I paused on the trail looking out over an opening into the trees. Sunlight burst through the canopy casting the trees along the creek into brilliant shades of green and gold. And there I stood for a time lost in wonder at this hidden world that so few get to see.
