I went skateboarding at my old skatepark this morning for a couple hours for the first time in roughly 6-7 years. It was instantly obvious that my typical weight training has hindered me from being able to pop the board and actually get height. Given that it may make my skating more powerful, its made me very slow and less agile than I used to be. I think im going to start adding in more power/speed movements into my leg days to see if I can turn this around to my benefit. More speed squats, speed pause squats, more jumping type work, plyometrics, etc. will be added to my lower days, considering every time you do a trick you basically have to do a speed/power quarter squat to pop up the board. If anyone else has any other recommendations....i am now a human guinea pig. Im excited. #bemultidimensional
