I went to see my old friend Darrell Bush in Wilson Memorial Hospital tonight down Binghamton way. Darrell has been very very sick and has been hospitalized for some time now. He has been through a lot, and has a long way to go before he gets released and he tells me that he will need extensive re-hab before going home. Now those of you that know Darrell, know that he is a most amazing Husband, Father, Friend, Brother and Son. I say that because I have had the pleasure of calling him Friend for many years now. Darrell was lead singer in our band Albany Street. Darrell was by far THE best singer in this area. The day he called and answered my ad in the newspaper, I was blown away that he, Darrell Bush, called me. I asked him quite humbly Are you sure you want to join this band? He replied, I wouldnt have Fu**ing called you if I didnt That phone call cemented our relationship. His professionalism carried us to heights I could never have imagined. Darrell and I are only 2 months apart in age, so we clicked right away and never a dull moment or a cross word between us. But to night I am also saddened. Why, because I have let far too much time slip by. You get caught up in your personal lives and forget how much time has passed. Darrell said to me tonight, Dick lets not let any more time slip past, lets stay in touch better. I will, I promised him, I will. So reach out to your friends and family, time is ticking away, good night...
