I will be doing a Photo Workshop this Saturday at 1pm at the - TopicsExpress

I will be doing a Photo Workshop this Saturday at 1pm at the beautiful Lacawac Sanctuary. Complete information below: Information on Photography Workshop When: Saturday, June 7th, 1 – 5:00 p.m. Where: The Barn, Lacawac Sanctuary Cost: $60 per participant, $50 for members. Sign up by calling or emailing Lacawac at 570-689-9494 or [email protected] Each participant must have a digital SLR or a good point & shoot with adjustable settings. A maximum of 10 participants will allow for individual attention and good discussion. (Additional workshops may be scheduled, depending on demand.) We will spend at most an hour on the basics (see below), at least an hour taking pictures all around Lacawac, and the third hour back at the education center looking at each others work and (gently) critiquing. Bring the cable you use to transfer your pictures from your camera to your computer so we can load them on a laptop and view them on a wide-screen HDTV. Time may not permit a review of everyones photos, but well try. Here is a flexible outline of what I try to cover: Technical aspects of TAKING pictures: Exposure/ISO Settings Depth of field/focus The trade-off between shutter speed and aperture Various on-camera settings – Auto, Program, Aperture/Shutter Priority, Scene Types, Flash, etc. Lenses – macro, zoom, telephoto, etc. Miscellaneous – Filters, Tripods, etc. SEEING Photographically: (Side note: Someone who was recently looking at one of my pictures – drops of water on a blade of grass – said to me, “I’ve never SEEN anything like that before!” I replied, “Yes you have, you just haven’t noticed.”) Pre-visualization (or not! Film is no longer cheap – it is free! TAKE THE PICTURE!) Black & White or Color? Composition Point of View AWARENESS It’s ALL ABOUT THE LIGHT In the Computer: “Post-processing” – Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. Organizing Workflow – Picasa, Lightroom, Aperture Sharing – Flicker, Facebook, Photoshelter, etc. Printing – at home or with service providers Most any of these topics could be enhanced by looking at the work of other photographers – local or world-renowned, for which I could provide some guidance. Over time, if you stick with your photography, you will converge on a niche or style which especially interests you. For more information about the instructor, including examples of his work, visit burnsidephotographic or email [email protected] if you have questions about the workshop.
