I will be providing this course primarily for AARCS volunteers and fosters, and will make it available for volunteers from other rescue groups as well. The regular price for the Pet First Aid Certification Course is $150 and I have been authorized to charge only $80 for rescue volunteers. The main expense for rescue groups is medical bills. One of my hopes is that the fosters/shelter volunteers would be able to learn more about when something is an emergency and when they can attempt some management of an issue (e.g. diarrhea) at home versus going to an emergency vet clinic. We also take in a lot of medical cases from the reservations (dogs with porcupine quills in the face, broken legs, open wounds) and this course would teach the rescuers how to help stabilize the animal while in transit to the emergency vet clinic.
