I will explain in depth about this group if you have a minute: This group is here to support and honor an under-rated and integral world: that of jazz/fusion bands (and other ensembles) who are-and-were not afraid to mix their musical skill and exhibitionism with sonic depth, ambience, and technology. For some reason this is actually still not common. Here are examples of the style range that people posting here should cover. You can even post original work here if it falls in-or-around this general criteria: TERJE RYPDAL JOHN ABERCROMBIE WEATHER REPORT RETURN TO FOREVER ALLAN HOLDSWORTH TORTOISE MODESKY, MARTIN & WOOD KNEEBODY SYMPLEXITY THE STRATOS ENSEMBLE BILL LAZWELL NILS PETTER MOLVAER NELS CLINE ALEX CLINE STEVE REICH JAN GARBEREK BILL FRISELL DAVID TORN MARK ISHAM MARTY FOGEL JAN HAMMER (early) HERBIE HANDCOCK (early) KIT WATKINS (early) PAT METHENY (early) BRAND X MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA PINK FLOYD (early) JAN LUC PONTY My band, The Stratos Ensemble, among a few other bands today, are of the only ones trying to re-introduce this extremely valid and forgotten art form from the 70s--ambient, electro-acoustic jazz and fusion. We are tired of being alone and being turned away by purist circles of all types. They all need to think of bands as either accessible, or experimental; either minimal, or busy; either slow, or fast; either exhibitionistic, or simple, but God forbid an ensemble who might mix ALL of those extremes. Why cant a band do it all? Is that really considered bad music by the crazy purists out there? There are already legendary bands who are known for mixing extremes, why not unknowns too? Help us build a new community one brick at a time. We know youre out there, fans and bands alike. Dont be a stranger... We like hearing jazz/fusion and any other ensemble forms combined with ambient, glitch, deep space, symphonic, neo classical, EDM and beyond, but aways with a distain for anything resembling a hyper-commercial sound. This group leans more towards experimentalism than anything super-accessible. However, oppositely, this group is NOT a place for purely experimental or chromatic music styles, or any acoustic purist forms. All experimental and/or chromatic music styles that dont have at least a slight diatonic angle will be deleted, as well as any repeated postings of dry acoustic music. We are here to support artists who combine chromatic AND diatonic AND electronic AND acoustic approaches, not one or the other. For some reason this is actually still not common in the current world of music. Aside from that, all are welcome! Explore and discover!
