I will start announcing the Speakers and Presenters at this years conference. With great pride, please welcome Michele Lee to the conference as a keynote speaker. Michele Lee is an Australian-born Hmong writer. Michele grew up in Canberra, and was born there in 1980 (incidentally, the first Hmong person born in Canberra!). She is from a family of seven siblings, and is the proud aunt to five nieces and three nephews. Most known for her publish work of her memoir; Banana Girl in 2013. More information about Micheles projects is on her website: michelevanlee.au. Michele has been the recipient of an Asialink residency and spent three months in residency in Laos in 2009. Michele was a recipient of an Australia Council Arts Start grant and spent two months in the USA last year, meeting with Asian American theatre companies and theatre artists. As well as writing, Michele has worked in communications, editing and project management roles in government, the arts and the community sector. Currently Michele works part-time as Senior Community Legal Education Co-ordinator with Victoria Legal Aid, and has worked there since 2008.
