I will take flack for this, however I have read the Koran, and so I feel confident in this. The media and in fact many political leaders have it quite wrong when they call the terrorist acts Radical Islam. There is nothing radical about this. The Koran is very specific and these Jihadist are following the Koran to the letter. Radical Islam in actuality would be those moderates like the president of Egypt who say that Islam must change, must become more tolerant. But to call the problem Radical Islam is to lie to the public. As Sam Harris said The only thing fundamentally wrong with Islam, are the fundamentals of Islam. Islam needs a reformation. They need the Muslim equivalent to Martin Luther. And we the people not just of America but of the world, Christians, Muslims, Jews, and even Atheists need to come together and demand, and support the voices in the Islamic world that are trying to press for change. And we need to prepare ourselves for the very probable reality that this cycle of violence will not be solved quickly or without more violence. The march in France yesterday was one of many steps, that I hope will begin to change the world view of the face of terrorism. But being risk obverse and trying not to see the problem, and the causes for what they are isnt the answer. The free world must be willing to do battle with this evil, and take whatever measures to defeat it that are necessary. Just as we did to end WW2.
