I wish you all a Happy Chanukah. The association with Thanksgiving is a rare one, and it wont happen again for 7800 years...if thats even imaginable. Maybe by then, well all be back for another go-around. The last time I had a go-around...that was when my instructor at Rayco Helicopter Pilot Training School at Monmouth Executive Airport said, ...Okay go around left of the runway and begin your descent to the landing zone...now hover over the landing zone for a minute and put us down on that pad right there. I told him that was no pad, it was a postage stamp, at best, and this bird wont fit on that little spot. My family stood outside watching my hover attempts...back and forth, pitching, rolling, swaying and praying! I gave them a good laugh, I guess. Not much encouragement to continue. We made several attempts to have me land the helicopter...all failed. The instructor had to land for me. He said I did great in flight but it takes some more skill to get home safe. Landing is pretty important! So, if you are contemplating some kind of flight, take it from me...stay home. Its Chanukah...youve already landed and youre safe there. And dont look to get any presents...GIVE the presents. Its so much more fun! We all love it, but its not about us...its for the Kinder (kids). Make them special and make them happy. It will keep you well grounded, no swaying...rolling and pitching...just focused.
