I woke this morning very early as usual, got up made myself a cuppa,washed cleaned teeth, nothing different there. I have just made my 4th cup of tea and as the flat was a little chilly i just turned the heating up full belt to warm it a little. For the 1st time in my life I am sitting here feeling guilty as i have just thought how fortunate or lucky some might say, not to have to worry about the cost of my gas and electricity while others will be sitting shivering and may be lucky if they can afford to put the heating on or boil a kettle in the coldest of weathers. It should be to the eternal shame of governents past but mainly present that in 2013 going into 2014 we have people who will die in their home due to the cold when we are still one of the wealthiest nations on the planet. We need the Labour Party to guarantee that when re-elected they will not follow this government dogma in persecuting the unemployed and vulnerable in our society but to reinstate the safety net of a decent welfare state and pay for it by eradicating tax loopholes only the rich can exploit
