I wore the uniform for 7 years, and today I took it off for the last time, never to put it on again. I gotta tell you, it was a ride and a half. From my time going through basic training at Lackland to my first base in Nebraska, which were some good/bad times spent. Then off to Iraq for my first deployment, which proved to me what we really do, just so everyone could rest easy at night. Then it was off to Lajes, in the Azores which has been an island paradise. Then off to the bitter tundra of Kyrgyzstan for my second deployment. I will miss the military, BUT so much more is calling me. And that chair at the end of the table for Thanksgiving/Christmas with my family Ive missed so much cant stay empty forever. Time to go home!
