(I would guess some people did not get this info yet from Doug Lowles re: the quarry, so here is the email I received from him today. ) A series of 3 open houses will be hosted by the City to get public input on the new Draft Aggregate Secondary plan. Please be sure your neighbours are aware. These open houses are scheduled: Wednesday, June 25th from 7pm – 9pm in Omemee, Coronation Hall Friday July 4th from 7pm – 9pm at the Bobcaygeon Community Centre (notice attached) Saturday July 5th from 1pm – 3pm (location to be confirmed –Carden Community Centre, or Coboconk Lions Hall) A large showing from area residents will do a lot to indicate concern of local residents regarding this issue and to correct the perception of some members of the Aggregate Steering Committee that “nobody lives up here”. A copy of the draft Secondary plan is available at: city.kawarthalakes.on.ca/property-development-by-law/planning/secondary-plans Of particular note to us in this draft plan are: - the clause requiring a 1000 meter constraint distance from settlement areas (includes shoreline cottages) within which aggregate operations will not be encouraged. (ref.: 24.3.2 & 25.3.7). - designation of Monck road as a haul route Another email will follow including update on Squire quarry status once the July 5 location is confirmed. I anticipate that this will be the most convenient venue for us. Enjoy summer!
