I would like everyone to take a moment to read this post. Most autism awareness is pointed mainly towards 2groups : classic autism and Aspergers. I would like you to know neither is Alec. So here are the facts about HIS autism spectrum disorder. Alec has pddnos s pervasive developmental disorder. Pddnos is defined by severe language and cognitive delays these which those with aspergers do not have problems with....it is called sub threshold or atypical autism meaning it is a high functioning autism but is hard to place. While symptoms lean more toward high functioning classic autism the difference is those with pddnos can be stronger or weaker in varying fields for example : Alec does the repetitive speech , robotic noises and tons more in the classic category BUT he does not lack eye contact and is more socially interactive than those on aspergers or classic...where Alec shows less in some main categories he shows more severe in others like his sensory disorder is worse and his language delay. So basically alecs form of autism is so hard to put into just 1 ASD category that it now has its own category. I hope you learned a little more about this broad disorder and a little more about Alec specific spectrum!
