I would like to pose a question to all the good and well rider - TopicsExpress

I would like to pose a question to all the good and well rider friends out there. I have to first admit that I am no expert or professional in these matters but coincidently overheard that good cornering tactics more or less - I stand to be corrected - goes as follows: When riding the twisties and running up to the start of a curve one must get the speed and gearing right for the specific curve before the beginning of the curve. Just before the start of the curve then one has to turn your head and look through the curve to where you want to go, the exit of the curve on the other side. then at the start of the curve one must choose the exact start point of your line and at that point lean the bike and take the curve while at the same time putting forward all the other correct behaviour e.g. throttle control etc, etc, etc. Now the question: imagine eagerly thundering across valleys and hills in the green rural countryside on a good two way traffic road down a stretch of straight in the beautiful sunshine towards a marvelous sweeping curve, attentive to all the correct cornering techniques coming up to the curve and you reach the point of no return where you have to lean the bike and take the line through the curve and you then suddenly realise that you have overcooked the situation by a fair margin and is toooo fast for the curve with no space to run-off or brake. with something like this being the case, which one of the six choices below could possibly be the most appropriate course of action for the situation ? 1. Say ....o sh*t !.... , reach and press the reset button to restart. 2. Totally give in to panic , release the handle bars, jump off the back of the bike and run as far as possible back to where you came from. 3. Update your Will and pray for your family and friends. 4. Hit the brakes with all might and crash into the barriers/cutting/trees or into on-coming traffic or summersault of the road and embankment. 5. Run wide through the curve, veer across the solid lines onto the opposite lane into the face of oncoming traffic to hit an approaching road grader head-on hoping for the best possible outcome. 6. Keep calm above all else....lean at the appropriate point to start your line as planned through the curve and continue with smooth throttle control because more often than not, nothing will happen and you will exit the curve on the other side albeit not necessarily with clean under wear.
