I would like to remind all my american friends about what happened in the night of November 9th 1989. what happened in that night would go down in world history and would be broadcasted around the world! What happened in that night would change human lives not just in Germany forever! It would define how Europe and the world would come over 50 years of collar war, a war waged on the freedom of billions of people! and in some parts of the world still waging! A night that showed us how freedom will prevail and how patriotic people will always in the end succeed and overthrow even the most corrupt and evil of Governments but Im getting ahead of myself let me start from the beginning! Let us go back in time to share the things happening that led to this event! For this we will go back to Berlin 1945, the end of World War II hitlers war has failed, germany and berlin its beautiful capital lays in Ruins The Soviet Red Army has conquered the entire eastern part of Germany and holds berlin in a fist of steel and will not let anybody in or out! This would start what was to go down into history as the Cold War, the war that would divide the Free and democratic West block of the world and the Unfree and Communist East block of the world. in 1948 the Russians are the first to give total Independence to the east sector of Germany but install a Communist Government, they call the newly proclaimed republic the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR) or German Democratic Republic (GDR) The first flag of the GDR was identical to the West German republic which wouldnt be founded until one year later in 1949 and would remain the flag until 1955. People quickly now realize they are not free from the russian although Russians have promised Independence it is a Satellite Nation of the Soviet Union. Afer realizing this many east germans try to flee to this time its not many and is not a problem of East Germanys government who is still working hard to crush fascist remains and rebuilding its country. Now we fast forward to 1953 to be exact to June 17th 1953. This day students in the GDR Rise to confront the Communist Government about doing little about poverty and attack Military Bases and East German as well as Soviet Military the Protests and attacks are destroyed in detail by Soviet and East German soldiers. Wilhelm Pieck the first East German president orders for a silence about this so no one may know but word quickly spreads the west is shocked! We now fast forward once again to 1955 The east Germans officially adapt a new flag is adopted it shows the German Flag Colors Black Red Gold and a hammer, sichel and circulator as well as corn so rounding it the flags of the germans to identify the German nation the hammer to represent the workforce the Circulator to represent science and technical advance and the corn to represent the farmers of east germany for the first time there is a symbol that divides east and west germany! This flag would stay in until 1959! Once again we fast forward to 1959 the GDR celebrated 11 years of its existence and for this celebration of its first schnapszahl double number digits it makes a new flag only one minor change has been done to it one small frame of corn has been token out the rest remains the same Now we again fast forward this time into the year of 1965 the east German fleeing rate is at a all time high people are tired of communism and the russian government controlling their lives! So President Walter Ulbrecht orders a closed border no one is allowed into the GDR unless he is from the east block and no one is allowed out no matter where he is from wether it be west or east imprisoning thousand and millions of his own people! A wall would divide Germany for almost 30 years! A wall trough Germany and its inner Border! Now we fast forward 3 years into the year 1968 The students revolt year in East Germany. Dozens of Intellectual and freedom loving Students revolt against East Germanys government people still living in utterly poor conditions the government having total control over people and everything built and made and doing nothing about increasing the wealth in the nation but keeping the wealth for themselves! In fact so many people in Berlin go on the road in Berlin thanks are blocked and cannot move or shoot because people are climbing on them and beating the crew halfway to death or just blocking the paths and letting the air out of the tires! After a few months the government gets the upper hand over the situation and destroys what is left of the revolutionaries and imprisons those few who survive and are not brutally slaughtered by the Secret State Police. Now we go a it more forward into the year 1988 After almost 20 years the first major protests East Germany being in more poverty then ever before! Now more bloody then ever before but the people gain the overhand and slowly turn the things. these fights and street wars would last for almost an entire year when the governments central intelligence station is overrun by free doming loving german patriots this would mark the end for the communists in gray dress uniforms! and soviet loving government! Erich Honecker ( president of the GDR to this time sees no chance but to silently step back but is arrested by his own secret state police for treason. Now Vice President under Erich Honecker Egon Krenz is president and announces that he refuses to keep the street wars going on and the popel inpriosned and that it is obvious that there is no point to uphold commits governments no more and hereby orders all borders of the GDR to be opened! As a pressman asks when does this law come into power Egon Krenz just bluntly states I believe this law is as off now Thousands storm the wall climb on it and come to the west and celebrate the end of 50 years of tyranny! This night made history and shaped how Germany came together as ONE NATION again! it marked the beginning of the end for the Soviet Union and the beginning of a bright future for now ONE UNITED GERMANY!
