I would like to say a huge congratulations to Marni Jackson whom is moving on from her role at Renew Newcastle to pursue some big city dreams. Marni helped SAW in the very early days (of 2010) by providing an in-kind office for us to work in which helped us really draft our our goals (which were to have Hunter Street Mall covered in art - Yay!). Renew Newcastle helped us to host a walking tour of artworks installed in the mall. The list of support is endless. But it runs much deeper. Marni helped myself navigate my way through forming and running an artist run initiative, ARThive in late 2008/early 2009. The grace and patience exercised by her was truly remarkable at moments when we really were testing the ice (sorry, Marni!). Marni helped me learn the must-have knowledge to work on THIS IS NOT ART Festival Director in 2010. This is a feat one should not ask any past Director, really. Marni, you have been an inspirational force and mentor for me on so many levels. I know that I am a better person for having the opportunity to work alongside you on, so many projects, and I look forward to kicking it with you in the big city!
