I would like to say, congratulations to the Wawasee girls swim & dive team. You ladies have had a phenomenal season. Lots of well deserved awards and honors were given out last night, and I couldnt be more proud of all of you. But, I have to say the highest award given, in my opinion, was the Team Academic Excellence Award!! That award speaks to the dedication, hard work, determination, of this team. These young ladies put in countless hours in and out of the pool this past season. Most never missing a practice. Many days they would be at practice at 6 before school and would not get home til after 7 that night, physically exhausted. And I also have to add, 2 a day practices everyday but Christmas Day during vacation. Now, that is dedication!! But, even with all that they kept their grades up. Wow, over 80 percent of these girls received a scholar athlete award last night. How amazing is that? It has been such a privilege watching these ladies compete in the pool, but I have been equally impressed with their behavior out of the pool. Congratulation, ladies on an undefeated season, conference champions, and sectional champions! But most of all, congratulations ladies on your Team Academic Excellence award. You deserve it all!
