I would like to see the Congress & President adopt three major tax proposals: 1. An increase in the marginal tax rate for taxpayers making over $1,000,000 prt year. This may encourage the rich to allow a little more money to trickle down to the 99%. 2. Increase the length of time an asset must be held to qualify for the preferential capital gains tax rate to 5 years and index the cost basis for inflation. This will encourage a much longer view of investments. 3. Restore deduct ability of research and development expenses. The requirement to capitalize and depreciate R&D expenses resulted in a much decreased level of R&D expenditures, effectively discouraging companies from investing in their future.
