I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? Exodus 21:7 If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as menservants do. 8 If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself, he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, because he has broken faith with her.” (New International Version) (See “Jesus for President” Claiborne and Haw, 2008, the Simple Way) Here is the point: the Bible is a self-contradictory relic from the Iron age. It is neither the “infallible word of God,” nor is it a totally historical document. Stop using it to justify your own bigotry! The key is finding spiritual truth in spiritual terms. Spiritual truth like love, tolerance, non-judgemental attitudes. Yes, you have to take it in context, and the current context is very different from that in the Iron age. amazon/Jesus-President-Politics-Ordinary-Radicals/dp/0310278422
