I would like to share my understanding of Zia Ul Haq. Generally we find that people pass very bad comments about him while the majority in Pakistan still remember him as an honest, patriotic leader who fought the Afghan War But for me he will always be respectable because many people even do not know the greatest achievement of Zia Ul Haq. Even his son has never highlighted the greatest achievement. The greatest achievement of Zia Ul Haq was that he REVIVED the Kashmir issue. Kashmir issue was dead and after Shimla agreement there was an international consensus about Kashmir. Zia Ul Haq Invited secretly all the pro Pakistan leadership of Kashmir, and made a famous Address which was called as operation TOPAC, Tangible guarantees were offered to Kashmiri Leadership and Saudi Arab played a very important coordination role. The father of present Kashmir Liberation Movement can honestly be termed as ZIA UL HAQ.
