I would like to spread the word of what a terrible experience I have had with living in Stocks Creek in Port Huron. And with saying that I am asking anyone that could help me with my situation in any way or give me advice....I am all ears and open for anything. Here is my situation....I moved into a rental in Stocks Creek back in July 2013. When I moved in the place was in bad condition. I replaced faucets, flooring, scrubbed walls, steam cleaned carpets, and power washed the outside just to make this home livable. I was also promised things to be fixed shortly there after....broken drawer in kitchen, no door lock on slider, and holes in the walls and doors in bedroom, etc. None of this stuff was every fixed in the year I lived there. And to top it all off my dogs (PITBULLS) were approved by the management upon moving in. I continued to live in these conditions without complaining, just fixing them myself. I went without heat for almost 12hrs one day due to the furnace going out and they didnt want to fix it....I had no water for a total of 3 different days due to them not taking care of my pipes properly and them freezing even with water left running. Etc, etc, etc.....all this time I was up to date on my rent payments and kept my home neat and clean and my dogs NEVER left their yard. May roles around and now I am told that due to me having pitbulls I am no longer allowed to live in the community unless I get rid of my dogs who were already approved by the previous manager. So after I pleaded my case they said they would think about it....still collecting my rent every month with no fail. Close to the end of June I am informed I have two weeks to move out due to them choosing not to allow my dogs. Needless to say I called corporate because I felt if I was being kicked out.. I better get my security deposit back. I was then told that they would allow me to give my 30 day notice to move out by the end of July and that would give me my security deposit back. So now we get to the last week in July and have not found a home that will allow dogs to good, clean renters. I call corporate 3 times with no response so I call the community manager. Asking that if I found a home.... because we had one possibility on a house with a key exchange on the 31st..... would I be able to use the weekend to move out being the 1st was on a friday and because I worked the 31st and 1st. She stated to me that if I was still living in the home on the 1st that I would have to pay another months rent. I said well that wont work because I need that money along with my security deposit to move into my possible new home so we would be out by the 1st....she stated Ok So we move everything out staying till 12am on the 31st to get out and clean. I call the manager at the front office at 730am Friday the 1st and leave a voicemail to call me back asap so we can meet and exchange keys and walkthru either friday or saturday. I never received a call the entire day and I had my phone on me at work all day. So I went to her first thing Monday...did the walk-thru, exchanged keys and asked about my security and she said we were all set and she just had to send paperwork in to corporate. This was a week ago Monday....so with no response for a week I called corporate today and was informed that due to my not exchanging keys until the 4th that I had to pay rent for the month of August and that my security being only $600 was not enuff to cover rent and water for the month so I owed. I about puked. I spent 45 min on the phone being upset, crying and pleading my case because that $600 is supposed to cover the remainder of my security deposit here at my new place and because of their managers fault I am not getting it back!!!! I did everything I was supposed to, moved out even tho my dogs were allowed when I moved in....cared for my home, paid rent on time, and never complained about anything and this is the treatment I receive. Im at a total loss and need some advice and want to let people know to steer clear of STOCKS CREEK on Lapeer Rd in Port Huron.
