I would like to take the opportunity to introduce the City’s new Bicycle Transportation Engineer, Ashley Haire. Ashley R. Haire, Ph.D., P.E. has undergraduate and Master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Arizona and earned her doctorate in transportation engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. She has worked in multimodal roadway design, transit operations, and traffic engineering. Haire served as senior researcher and adjunct faculty at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, where she developed her expertise in bicycle and pedestrian facility design, teaching and conducting research focused on enhancing active transportation modes and sustainability. Most recently, she was TxDOT’s Dallas District Project Manager for the Southern Gateway and LBJ East projects. She brings to the City of Dallas a passion for bicycle-based lifestyles and the technical and communication skills to grow the Dallas bicycle network into a safe, comprehensive system.
