I would like to thank EVERYONE for your birthday wishes, gifts, and shout outs. Facebook has its drawbacks but what I have come to appreciate about it, is the ability to connect with a wonderful circle of people. I try to include only “friends” in my Facebook circle so I create a “safe” and trusting place to post pictures, achievements, special moments and even nonsensical things. Over these few years, I have been able to connect with childhood friends, school friends, college friends, Tae Kwon Do friends, friends in Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut (places where we have lived), family members, new friends and of course, spy on my son who is now on Facebook. Point is, receiving all the wonderful birthday messages felt like one big reunion with all my peeps in the house…I loved it! Here is a confession peeps, unlike turning 40 and feeling excited, 41 was a bit different. I was NOT looking forward to the big day. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate life as a gift and I appreciate that gift but, I couldn’t shake the emotions that emerged as my birthday approached. I felt like Simba after Scar told him to leave his home and never return. Remember when he was crossing the desert? Unable to breathe and feeling hopeless (The Lion King movie) Entering 41 felt that way to me. What crossed my mind, was the singular thought….Menopause is near! That one thought would be accompanied by other depressing thoughts. Bottom line is, I am working hard to purge those negative thoughts. I think this is normal? I am surrounded by some very strong and supportive women so I know I will be ok. So, thank you for surrounding me with love today friends, I appreciated it very much! Muah
