I would love to do this one day- Ride your own horse in the iconic Snowy Mountains Have you dreamed of going on holiday with your horse or riding the your own horse in the magnificent Snowy Mountains? New for spring 2013, BYO horse to the Snowy Mountains and ride in snowgum woodlands with amazing views to the snow capped peaks of the main range. Agist your horse adjacent to your accommdation - bring your own fence or contact us and we can arranage this. Stables, roundyard and fenced yards are coming soon. This is true self guided bush riding on purpose built tracks - not fire trails. You wil need to have decent riding ability and adequate control of your horse as you will most likely encounter deer, kangaroos and wallabies. Brumbies are not common but can be in the area. For the more adventurous, we can arrange guides to take you further afield. Spring and summer rates start from as little as $33 per person per night (6 share) including a continental breakfast with optional 3 course dinner for $25. You can book this online and also book your horse agistment at $25 per day. The Chalet is located 3km off the Alpine Way at about 1200 meters above sea level and nestled amongst beautiful snowgums. Thredbo is about 23km further up the Alpine Way and Perisher 40km the other way so at Habitat Chalet you are a short drive from some amazing areas. Accommodation is in cabins up to six share, each with near new private ensuite. While the lodge sleeps up to 58 people in total, exclusive use bookings are available for as few as 20 guests (number may vary depending on availability and time of season). The central lounge and dining building is complete with open fires, gas and underfloor heating so no need to worry about being cold when you get home.
