I would suggest everyone watch this quick show on health care. It definitely shows quite a bit and makes great points. When doctors know that you are not paying for their services, and know that the entity that is paying for the services has a greater pocket book than your average individual, as well as have to deal with the the great costs of dealing with insurance, it is easy to get away with charging high prices, which then, in effect, hurts those unfortunate enough not to have insurance. It is what creates this expensive and complex system that is falling apart today. Universal health care will only make matters worse. That is why the free market works. You dont have all of the red tape, the government subsidies, and instead of no responsibility on the patient, 100 percent responsibility is given. Furthermore, doctors would be truly competing on the market for individuals who dont all make that much money, which would force them to keep prices low and affordable. If you suddenly lose a lot of your customers due to high prices, you lose more income than you would have had you simply lowered the price. There is nothing wrong with health care being based on profit, that drives innovation.
