I would sure appreciate your prayers about something Im doing tomorrow. Im about to board my plane and head to CA. Is this to sing? No! Its to speak! Aghhh!!! At the beginning of 2013 I felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit to not only sing, but to speak, as well. Dont get me wrong; I am certainly known to share what God has been teaching me from stage in between songs, but the thought of standing up on a stage without the comfort of music makes me want to run and hide. It has a lot to do with traveling with, in my opinion, some of the best Christian speakers in America: Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, Joyce Meyer, Christine Caine, etc. He doesnt need another one of them. Theyre holding that down flawlessly. After years of traveling with these ladies, and comparing my speaking abilities to theirs, God has been teaching me that He has called me to speak the way He equipped me to speak. So with fear and trembling, I told Him that if He was leading, I would follow. Since I agreed, God has been so sweet to surround me with great friends (who also happen to be some of my favorite speakers/teachers). Without even knowing about what I sensed from God, Lisa Harper asked me to be a part of her newly released Bible Study on Hebrews. It was my first terrifying step into speaking, but the finger of God never points to where His hand hasnt already made a way. The day after recording my message for Lisas study I left for NC, where my friend Lysa TerKeursts Proverbs 31 Ministries held their annual #SheSpeaks conference, which was created to equip & encourage those who feel the call of God to speak and write. It was truly a God-send...and the story of how it all came about is a really neat #GodWink (Ill share it another time, promise). Finally, through a series of strange events, I got to know the leaders of the Preaching Rocket, and they held a private conference for several of my friends and I called #WomenWhoSpeak. Wow! Talk about God providing when a woman says yes! So tomorrow I am speaking at a private Christian high school in Malibu. They are having a #TEDx type event for their 1500 students, plus teachers and parents. They asked me to speak on Breaking Boundaries. As someone who has put a you are not a speaker boundary around herself, I know ALL about breaking out of them! Im scared, but as Joyce Meyer says, Im gonna do it afraid. Your prayers will help! Thanks yall! Wish me luck! Better yet, forget wishes and luck, Ill take prayers and faith instead! ;-)
