I wrote a bit yesterday on the subject of agape love and the Spirit prompted me to add a note just now to help clarify. All people have love in them because we were created in the mage of God and to express God, since God is love. However...in the fall of man, we have become corrupted and at best our love is very week and limited and void of the literal content and substance of God. This means that the very best of the love of the natural man, apart from God is like a shadow of the real thing. In Christ we have that substance of that content but we have to appropriate this content so as to become perfectly attuned with God for the expression of His life and divine nature, which is most notably agape love. In so doing we shall become as the glove filled with the hand. The glove can do nothing by itself. All which a man does, that does not have its foundation in Christ and through Christ is as a glove trying to work without the hand. All of mans efforts outside of Christ, with the very best efforts and intentions in love are as little to naught in the end, for all works shall be tried by fire and the quality of the works will be shown as stubble, hay or wood, which is in and of the natural man in his own love or else it will be shown to be a lasting material as gold, silver and precious stones which cannot be burned up or eliminated. We may wish to give appreciation for any evidences of natural love, but we must begin to see according to the truth in light since all of these things shall be tried by fire in the end and seek out the better and the perfect things through God our Savior. There is nothing sweeter and more satisfying than the experience of agape love in ones self, through himself and others! This is why Paul could say that he did count ALL other things as rubbish for the gain of Christ because in comparison, the very best of the natural man is in fact like refuse when compared to Christ and what His eternal life and nature brings to the man.
