I wrote for restaurant operators but it really applies to our businesses big and small. What Will Your Restaurant do to Adapt to the Coming Economic Collapse Due to ObamaCare? Less than a year ago, I remember the affect the increase in the social security tax increase had the economy. Most Americans were affected to the amount of approximately $20 per week less in their paychecks. I remember talking to Nation’s Restaurant News about the impact on restaurants and disposable income for dining out. Now, we are talking about a majority of the industry’s customers being hit with a 100% to 250% Increase in their health care premiums amounting to $200 - $400 out of their disposable income each month. If you don’t think this is going to affect dining habits, then you need to wake up now and start making adjustments to your plans for 2014. The obvious includes analyzing the impact of Obamacare costs for your employee’s healthcare and how will you adjust. Less obvious is how does this affect your growth plans? Also, how many costs can adjustments you implement now through menu engineering, commodity planning and price structure? Are there physical plant equipment purchases, maintenance and repair you should plan for remaining 2013? The bottom line is how would you normally react if you knew your 2014 sales could be 10-20% less than 2013?
