I wrote this song “Astropop” and when I was touring with my band, it was a fan favorite. The lyrics are “Throw your hands on up and I’ll cherish all the freedom I ignore. Throw your hands on up and I’ll celebrate this life that keeps me poor.” Now, I just cringe when I hear that last line. There was once a time when I felt comfortable donning my struggling artist rocker gear, thrilled to get exactly what I needed to survive every month. Being “poor” meant that I was a good person because after all, money is “evil,” right? Thankfully, my views have dramatically changed. Being poor did not make me a good person. I am a good person, period. With more money, I could create change that is GLOBAL, not local. With more resources, I could positively impact more lives. I see myself now as a billionaire philanthropist. Millions coming in and millions going out to do good for the world. Every day, my life is exploding with miracles as I get closer to realizing this dream. So, Im taking artistic license and changing the last line of Astropop to: Throw your hands on up and I’ll celebrate this life that I ADORE” OR “Throw your hands on up and I’ll celebrate this life ‘cause I want MORE.” Let’s all celebrate abundance together because it’s awesome and we all are deserving of it. :)
