I wrote this this morning and read it to grandma right before she passed: You taught me how to hear lifes music, all the melodies and harmonies. How to understaand the composition and how I could join the song in key. You told me we all have a sound. Encouraged me to seek out mine. And when I found it you said play it loud. The rest would come to me in time. 100 tunes I must have played, 100 wrong notes too. Stopping, starting, pausing, markinG. Does this part sound good to you? You directed me through minor sorrows, and we celebrated major scores. You made sure that my song kept playing, even when it meant pausing yours. Now your steady drummer slows, your song is coming to its end. The most beautiful lifesong Ive ever known will soon never be heard again.... But I will never forget.
