I44 Riverside Speedway Grand Reopening 14th Annual Mini Sprint Nationals Friday, August 2nd / Night 2 Lineups and Night One partial results Cody Morris I44 Riverside Speedway An I44 Riverside Speedway record 164 entries gathered in southwest Oklahoma City to celebrate the grand reopening of central Oklahoma’s last remaining auto racing venue. Losing his home, business, and all personal belongings in the May 20th tornado, I44 Riverside Speedway skipper Mark Banister rallied to restore the 1/5th mile oval in just 73 days. Lawn chairs filled the void where grandstands formerly stood and nearly 500 race fans gathered on the admission side alone to give a standing ovation as the first race of the 14th Annual Mini Sprint Nationals roared coming out of turn four - a heart warming ascent that brought a packed house to their feet. It was against this powerful backdrop, with scars and remnants of the devastation still visible outside I44 Riverside confines, that both the local and racing communities celebrated the revival of a cornerstone to both. The only thing more exhilarating is we get another dose of it with Saturday night’s 14th Annual Mini Sprint Nationals grand finale. Four hours, 22 heat races, 15 qualifiers, and 445 scored laps later; the show is set for the 14th Annual Mini Sprint Nationals Grand Finale. Intent was to share full results, but heat race results were sacrificed in the frantic effort to add up passing/finishing points to line up qualifiers. However, heat winner, qualifier results and Saturday night lineups/details should more than suffice both the casual and avid reader.
