#IBleedHorror #SeasonOfHorror #Horror - Day 151 Exorcist II: The Heretic Release Date: June 17, 1977 Distributor: Warner Bros. Pictures Director: John Boorman Producer: John Boorman / Richard Lederer Music: Ennio Morricone Starring: Linda Blair / Louise Fletcher / Richard Burton Budget: $14,000,000 Box Office: $30,749,142 Rotten Tomatoes: 22% IMDb: 3.7/10 Phantom: 5/10 Let me be completely honest about this movie: its bad. It is, without question the biggest gap from original to sequel. Most horror fans would consider The Exorcist top 10 all-time. I consider it top 3. Heretic is definitely one of the worst 70s horror movies. This is a very high 5 rating. I feel like it only gets that credit for being in between two excellent films in a good series. This movie just tried WAY too hard to go deeper into where the original story came from. It added way too much background. The original movie was simple yet sophisticated in writing. It was easy to follow and understand. This one just took a left at the Y instead of jumping right into what the third installment was about. I wont say it has no creativity. Maybe there was too much involved with it, sure. Too much effort. Im not sure what John Boorman really wanted here. It was as if this had nothing to do with the original film, as far as the filmmakers. I wish I could just not have this on the list, but it wouldnt feel right to leave it out. If were going to slave through all those Hellraisers and Halloweens, its only right that we include this. . . .
