ICY CHANCES NEXT WEEK -- SAT PM UPDATE... Still looking at a few chances for icy mornings. Heres what Im thinking as of Saturday evening. MONDAY AM: Rain beginning after midnight will fall with temps in the 30s. There is a low chance that temps could drop below freezing. If they do, well see patchy freezing rain in spots for a few hours -- with minor impacts possible. Temps warm by mid-morning with all rain after that. TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY: Cold air moving in, setting up the Appalachian wedge we talk about. This means clouds, hardly any movement in temps, and possible drizzle or light rain. IF temperatures are below freezing, and they very well could be, well have the risk for freezing drizzle. I DO think some temps will be below freezing, but Im not convinced theres a ton of precip to begin with, so impacts look relatively low Tue/Wed as well. THURSDAY: Low pressure moving south and east of the Triad. Models cannot agree on the placement of this low. Im thinking that well either see a grazing blow of precipitation, OR, it misses us altogether. If we do see precipitation, it will either be snow or rain. Not an ice threat here. I think we could see it start as snow changing to rain. Again, we could also see nothing. Monday is a very low threat. Tue/Wed is a low to moderate threat. Thursday is a low threat that may end up being a non-event for us. Hope this makes sense. Feel free to ask questions and share. - TB
