ID Pics # 6 & 7 from Dec. 30th posting. (Finally! )Talk about overlooked - this tiny, unique SNAIL (Vermicularia knorrii). looks more like a tube worm than a snail, but this interesting animal is indeed a snail. It lives in its shell which is imbedded in coral or sponge. In these photos you can see that some of the tube-like shells protrude quite a distance from the coral surface. Another name for this snail could be The Spiderweb Snail because if the web of mucus it send out to snag a meal. When spinning its web or or retrieving a meal, all you can see is its head and two antennae. Most of these pictures were taken at a depth of between 3 and 6 feet. The last two pictures are of groups. The last picture is of the largest group Ive ever seen! I included the third picture because it includes one of a tiny Triplefin Blenny species that are about an inch long.
