IELTS Listening Tips: • Key word location and marking are very common tips and almost everyone knows it but when and how to mark them is an important factor. • Once the tape starts, listen to the instructions carefully and proceed. You will be given time to mark key words. Dont waste this time. Read the questions carefully and assume about the answer. • Usually first section contains 10 - 13 questions. Once you marked the key words, be alert to listen from the first word. Dont ignore any conversations. • Now let us ready to listen. Once you marked the key words, you already have those in your mind and when the tape starts, sure you will not miss the key words. You have enhanced the probability of choosing or writing the correct answer. • Similarly when the first section finishes, you will be given sometime to check your answers. You don’t need to do that, if you have written everything correct as far as you know. Just go to the next section and mark the key words: Skimming and marking key words will make sure you will not miss the correct answers. • When the next section starts, again you will have some time to read the questions and re-mark, here again, go through second time the key words and question type. Once you did, you will find answering the question a piece of cake. • When the sections are going front, you might find a bit difficulty, but if you are attentive and keen to listen to the audio, you will not miss your answers. Dont worry about the accents, it will be clear and you can understand, if you are 100% attentive.
