IF I WERE A MONK If I were a monk, Ill sleep but in tatches - TopicsExpress

IF I WERE A MONK If I were a monk, Ill sleep but in tatches and tents When my lids are heavy and night is far spent. Meals of your taste Ill deride, I eat, but what I eat the jungles decide. I drink water and wine But my taste lies on site of spring or vine. If I were a monk, Ill be a teacher monk, Scribble sane to your ill-lucid sense And buy you wisdom at follys expence. If I were a monk, Ill be a blacksmith monk, And mint all gold to dust and shred Tis desire to vain and dead. And as a banker monk Your safe shall be wads of junk. If I were a monk, Ill be a Black monk, Ill paint my hood black Stride the floor and teach by dark, And by morn lay aloft my bunk, But as a black monk What new knowledge wilt I hold As I do not breed Davids blood?
