READ THE POST AND HELP US, THE PEOPLE OF PELECH AND SAWIYA TO SPREAD THE WORD AND THE PICTURES - SHOW TO THE WORLD THAT WHERE THERES A WILL, THERES A WAY! Plus, I had a bet with a friend of mine that this post can reach to at least 20,000 Shares from people around the world who believe in Peace! So - share! Last Friday we hosted in our home in Kibbutz Pelech in Israel a group of 40 people from the Palestinian village Sawiya. After visiting them and touring in their village in May this year, and after they were supposed to come to us but the visit was postponed because of the war - yesterday it happened and he was very exciting. This visit is part of an independent initiative of the people of Pelech and Saiwya. We call this initiative by the name Twin Cities, and its purpose is to create a direct relationship between us and our Palestinian neighbours, to lower the walls between us, to reduce the demonization between the two peoples and to work together towards ending the occupation promoting peace in non-violent ways. In other words - Leaders Sign Agreements - But People Make Peace. What happened yesterday was an act of refusal. Refusal to accept this violent reality for granted, in order to show that it could and should be different. So that their children could see that Israelis are not only soldiers guarding checkpoints (like they experienced on the morning of their tour where 7 children and their parents didnt get a permit to enter Israel and had to go back home, but even so we continued the visit). So our children could see that Palestinians are not only terrorists. That they all could see that eventually we are all human beings. Yesterday we talked about the continuation of the relationship between Pelech and Sawiya and about the things we want to do together, for each other and with each other. We sat together. We ate together. The children blew soap bubbles. We declared our intention of creating long term cooperation between the two communities, and expressed the hope that the idea of this initiative will spread to other Israeli and Palestinian towns and villages. The visit was extremely exciting and hopeful. Please - Share this post to the world!
