IFA Coaching Courses IFA Grassroots Introductory Award This attendance based award is aimed at volunteers, parents, teachers and aspiring or existing coaches working in the area of Grassroots Football with children aged between 6 and 9. The course is 3 hours in duration, with both theoretical and practical content. Participants who complete the course will be presented with the IFA Fundamentals Award and resource booklet. Candidates should bring writing materials and appropriate footwear for indoor practical sessions. Fee: £40. Venue/Date: TBC. NB: To register for this course please complete the application form. Applicants will be notified once there are enough candidates to proceed. IFA Level 1 Coaching Award This IFA Level 1 award has now replaced the Junior Team Managers Award (JTM), and qualifies you to coach children and young people (9 – 12) under the supervision of a more qualified coach. A Level 1 Coaching Award candidate must complete 24 guided learning hours with a tutor. This includes a certified Irish FA Child Protection course and an Irish FA Basic First – Aid for Football course. All candidates must be at least 16 years of age and will be vetted through the IFA Child Protection unit and Access NI. Candidates will undergo a practical coaching assessment as part of the course. In addition, each candidate must complete his/her log sheet with 6 hours coaching experience at their local club, school or youth group and submit a passport sized photograph for their IFA coach identification card. Candidates should bring writing materials and appropriate footwear for outdoor practical sessions.
