IMPORTANT!!!!!!!! HUGE NEWS!!!! We have LOTS OF VERY BIG news...please bare with us. This is a long one..... #1- Thank you again and again to everyone for the incredible support you have shown, and for networking Andra Graces page, all the donations etc. Andra is doing great, getting stronger every day and is proving her namesake above and beyond!!! #2- Two wonderful volunteers, Michael and Kendra, went out yesterday on foot in the Marietta area and handed out flyers, spoke to local businesses and residents etc. Within 15 minutes, we had two positive eyewitness accounts, identifying the person who is responsible for dragging Andra Grace. We passed along all the details including his name, where he lives etc to Animal Control and they are actively seeking an arrest. Please understand the following: We will NOT post the name, details and info of the person responsible. If/when an arrest is made ( which it will be), we will let the news and local papers be the ones to release the information. We cannot post the details we have on the case, as it is an ongoing investigation and the last thing we want to do, is be the reason that anything gets hindered or slowed down. BUT PLEASE KNOW THIS!!!... We will not let this guy get away with it. The local authorities are very passionate about finding him and prosecuting him as well. #3- Through this Facebook page and the media covering the story, we were contacted by Andra Graces original owner. Her original name is Dixie and she is 12 months old. We now know how she ended up in the horrible situation she found herself in last week. Andras owner had to move and was unable to take her with her due to new housing not allowing pit bulls. She mistakenly trusted someone to care for Andra Grace, which clearly they did not. We believe Andra Grace was then either abandoned by this person or sold, and ended up in the hands of yet another man, who dragged her behind the truck. We ask that you please refrain from writing comments/judgemnent in regards to Andra Graces previous owner. Although we dont agree with her leaving her dog behind, she had no bad intentions for her and has been extremely helpful with trying to catch the person responsible. I spoke at length with her about the responsibility of caring for your pets and that they should be family members for life. I am confident that she will never do the same with another pet in the future. #4- In finding out information from Andras former owner, we also discovered that she had puppies 5 weeks ago. We were told by vets that they thought she had nursed in the last 6 months or so. We had NO idea it was so recently and immediately sprung into action to try and locate Andras babies. She gave birth to a litter of 7 puppies on 10/28/13. We decided to go about it our own way, as we were confident we would handle it quicker than animal control and/or the police. Within an hour of knowing these puppies existed, we were able to track them down through people who had called in tips. Unfortunately, we were told that 4 of them were already sold, but we now have 3 of them safe and sound with a local foster. One puppy, who we believe to be the runt is very sick. He was at a local vet all day and is now at the emergency clinic getting overnight care. He tested negative for Parvo, but was vomiting, had bloody diarrhea and a very low temperature. He was on fluids and a warming blanket but is still not eating or drinking. We are doing everything we can to stabilize him and get him through this. All three puppies have and are being treated for : Hookworms, Cocchsidia and Whip worms. #5- We are NOT giving up on finding Andra Graces other 4 puppies who were already sold. We are speaking to locals and trying to gather any information we can on who might have bought them. We are concerned they might be in the wrong hands and could be sick as well. They have had NO vetting and are way too young to have been separated from their Mama, let alone each other. We are offering a reward and to buy back the puppies for triple what the people paid for them. If anyone has any info regarding these 4 puppies, please email snarr_23@yahoo. We are really hoping that because this is a small, rural area, that the puppies were sold locally and that we will be able to recover all 4. #6- Of course our first thought was to reunite Andra Grace and her babies. We imagined an incredible reunion where babies and Mama felt relief to see eachother again and all would be right with the world :) Unfortunately, the vets advised against this for Andras well being. Because Andras mammaries are so damaged and raw from being dragged, she will not be able to nurse her babies. They will want to nurse and the vets are concerned that Andra will be incredibly stressed that she is unable to care for her babies. Because we cannot leave them all together due to Andras condition, the vets are also concerned that reuniting them briefly, to only take them away again, will make Andra incredibly sad, depressed and stressed. We do not want to risk putting her through any more trauma than she has already been through. So a reunion will have to wait. #7- MY FINGERS ARE TIRED!- LOL...I think we gave you enough exciting news for tonight? :)
