These websites are trying to raise awareness for net neutrality which is currently in jeopardy. What happens if we loose net neutrality? In a nutshell any website that doesnt pay the internet providers extra will have their websites noticeably slowed down. For you, this means you will be facing buffering on netflix, slow load times on reddit, among other websites. For the economy this means that no longer will people be able to take an idea and use the internet to make it a real and great thing because they will have to compete with industry giants money to have their websites operate at a decent speed.
