Crystal Hope Lowery, 41, of Jacksonville, Ark., has been arrested in connection with Carters death. Her husband, Arron Lewis, was arrested shortly after Carters body was found at the end of September. On Sept. 25, Carter, a North Little Rock, Ark., real estate professional with Crye-Leike REALTORS®, went missing after showing an abandoned, foreclosed home to a potential buyer in Scott, Ark. Her disappearance captured national headlines as hundreds searched for her. Five days later, her body was discovered in a shallow grave at a cement company about 20 miles from the home she had been showing. Police have yet to disclose details on Lowerys suspected involvement and if any additional suspects are being sought in the case. Weve had suspicions all along, says Lt. Carl Minden with the Pulaski County Sheriffs Office about Lowerys arrest. Exactly what that [evidence] is, I cant say, because everything in this case is sealed by prosecutors and the court. But theres a link there, and obviously a fairly substantial link for her to get the charges she has. According to police reports, Lowery, a nursing student at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, filed for divorce from Lewis on Oct. 17, citing general indignities and Lewis murder charge. She said in the filing that she did not know Lewis was a seven-time felon when they had married on April 20. Lewis has pleaded innocent to the charges he faces in Carters death. Lewis told a reporter late last month that he did not kill Carter and that anything that did occur was an accident.
