IN OUR HOME: We do second chances We do grace We do mistakes We do real... We do Im sorrys We do funny We do LOUD real well! We do ((Hugs)) We do family~ We do love... It has been one of those manic Mondays, when you look back over the day, and try to convince yourself you accomplished something....hmmm Yesterday, I had the pleasure of presenting sharing time in Primary. We are focusing on the love of our Heavenly Father and his Son, as the overall theme for the year. The children range in ages 3 -11. They all look at me, as the Crazy Old Woman that I am...but they know I am good for a genuine hug, hello...and you are so handsome & beautiful. I love kids...I think I have this inner child, that has never really grown up, just wanting to come out and play, when opportunities afford themselves. I am blessed~ Anyway, I wanted to leave them with a little object lesson, on how wondrous and sweet the love of our Savior, really is. We played a couple of guessing games, sang some songs that expressed said sentiment...and then I had a volunteer come to the front. He was blindfolded, while the rest of them sat in darkness ...with a little glow from a lantern. I asked the young man who was helping me, if he could smell what I had in my hand, as I placed it up under his nose...He said bubble gum. YES! Im going to unwrap it, and hand it to you. You may place it in your mouth, but DO NOT CHEW, until I give you permission to. As the sugar was dissolving, I asked him if his glands were starting to salivate. YES...Do you want to bite down on this gum and start chewing? YES! Will you remember how wonderful it tastes, with that first bite, and all of the following chumps? YES! Everyone present was eventually given a piece of bubble gum...the whole room oozed with that delicious aroma~ I was trying to create an analogy about the love of our Savior. It is there, for each of us...all we have to do, is decide to acknowledge, bite down, and savor His sweet and wonderful goodness, His love for us. I challenged them to remember this little lesson for the rest of their lives. Every time you unwrap a piece of gum, take a moment to reflect on its sweetness, before you put it in your mouth, and remember His love for you. It was a lesson, my great grandmother had challenged me to, some 54 years ago, as she was a Primary teacher of mine. I have never forgotten it.
